Marvin has over 30 years of experience, showcasing a wide variety of responsibilities and knowledge. After graduating from Western Illinois University in 1994, he went to work for Horace Mann Insurance company as a multi-line insurance agent and registered representative in the Chicago western suburbs. After five years of working as an agent, he was promoted to manager of the Northern Illinois Agency, and was responsible for the sales goals, development, and mentoring of agents in the designated territory.

Marvin moved back to his hometown of Burlington, Iowa and joined Krantz Investments, in February of 2002. Krantz was later acquired by Two Rivers Financial Group. He worked as a registered representative, and the brokerage department manager for Two Rivers Bank & Trust until 2020. 

In 2021, Marvin started Great Rivers Investments, LLC. 

Marvin graduated with an associates degree from Southeastern Community College in 1992, and graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Business degree. He has earned the following securities licenses: 

• Series 6 (Investment Company and Variable Contracts Representative)
• Series 7 (General Securities Representative)
• Series 24 (General Securities Principal)
• Series 51 (Municipal Fund Securities Limited Principal)
• Series 65 (Uniform Registered Investment Advisor Law)
• Insurance Sales (multiple states)

Marvin earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in February, 2010. The CFP® designation is the recognized standard of excellence for competent and ethical personal financial planning. 

When Marvin is not developing financial and investment solutions for his clients, he is farming on his family farm, where he raises row crops and cattle. He is an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, enjoys golfing, deer hunting and fishing. 

Marvin serves on multiple boards in the community, which include the Salvation Army Advisory Board and the Notre Dame Foundation board member.  In the past he worked with local boy scout troops, helping the scouts earn merit badges that focused on financial learning.  He also coached youth football teams through both the local YMCA and YSF programs, coached T-Ball teams, and was a member of the local Rotary Club.
